Bet365 Closes Online Casino In Germany, What About New Jersey?

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Days before entering the new decade, bet365 has decided to shut down one of its major online casinos operating in Germany. The closing of the betting operation comes right before Germany rolls out new laws regarding the online gambling industry.

The latest version of these new laws was approved by the 16 states in the early part of 2019 as a way to keep unlicensed gambling companies out of the country. The updated laws under the new federal gambling treaty will allow online gambling operators to now apply for sports betting licenses.

With the legislation going into effect on Jan 1, 2020, the British based company decided to shut down its German online casino. However, the company is expected to begin operating again in Germany after ensuring that their new casino will comply with the new regulatory authority.

But, will this affect bet365's legal gambling in the U.S.? Simply put it shouldn’t.
