Betting On Three Seeds In The 2022 NCAA Tournament

Tennessee Basketball
  • All four of the three seeds in the 2022 NCAA tournament made it to their conference final game.
  • Four teams with a three seed have won the March Madness Title since 1915.
  • The Tennessee Volunteers have the best odds of any three seed at +1600.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Volunteers men’s basketball team claimed the SEC Title for the fifth time in school history on Sunday and are on a seven-game winning streak. They have been given the third seed in the South Region.

The Vols are not the only team that have been hot approaching the NCAA tournament.

All four of the three seeds in the NCAA tournament made it to their conference championship game last week. Tennessee handled the Texas A&M Aggies in the SEC championship game while leading their three SEC tournament games 45% of the time.

The Vols beat Kentucky twice this season and also knocked off Auburn and Arizona along the way. All three of these teams have higher seeding than Tennessee.

Texas Tech, another three seed, finished third in the Big 12 in the 2022 season, behind Kansas and Baylor. Texas Tech beat Baylor in both of their meetings this season but fell to Kansas two of their three games this season (one going to OT).

The Wisconsin Badgers and the Purdue Boilermakers are both 5-3 against top 25 teams for the 2022 regular season.

Even with momentum, the three seeded teams have long odds to win March Madness.

NCAA 2022 Three Seed Team Title Odds

  • Tennessee +1600
  • Texas Tech +2200
  • Purdue +2000
  • Wisconsin +7000

At some legal gambling sites, three seeds were given +600 odds to win the Tournament. The bet would hold less risk than betting on individual teams but lowers the potential winnings substantially.
