PHILADELPHIA — The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board had its monthly meeting on Wednesday. One of the topics of discussion was if the DraftKings online casino will get the approval they needed in order to operate or not.

In short, they did and DraftKings will now be able to get another source of revenue from their online platform.

DraftKings Online Casino

There were nine legal online casinos that operated in the state of Pennsylvania. With the newly approved DraftKings online casino, that makes it 10 online casinos that are operating in an already crowded market.

The approval of legal gambling sites in Pennsylvania has been a growing theme this year as there have been three online casinos that have been approved and launched thus far. One of those casinos included the Caesars online casino which launched last week.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board allows for land-based casinos in the state to have multiple online gaming partners. DraftKings land-based partner, the Meadows Casino did not apply for an online casino license for DraftKings in the past which is why they had to seek approval now.

Penn National, which is the owner of the Meadows and also owns the Hollywood Casino, are the ones that needed the final approval in order for them to officially launch DraftKings Casino on May 1st.
