NBA Partners With Princess Cruise, Push Logos On Wristbands
- The NBA has partnered with Princess Cruises to allow custom NBA team logos on the ship.
- The Cruise ship opened up a mobile sportsbook called “Oceans” that can be used when the ship hits international waters.
- The only betting restriction is that the app does not allow any bets placed on the Miami Heat.
SANTA CLARITA, CA -Princess Cruises has come to an agreement with the NBA to allow the company to customize their wireless wristbands that are used to pay for items on the ship.
This was an intellectual property agreement with the NBA that allows participants on vacation to be rocking their favorite team the whole time they are on the ship.
Rocking The Wristband
The customizable medallion on the wristband is about a quarter in size and it cost $5 for each person to receive a custom NBA logo medallion on their wristband. This request must be completed on the Medallion Class app before arriving on the cruise for vacation.
Princess Cruise is a vacation cruise ship that operates in Santa Clarita, Ft. Lauderdale, and Los Angeles. They had the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Sparks mascots on a cruise ship promoting the collaboration.
Oceans Sportsbook
The cruise has a legal sportsbook called Oceans and it is operated through the Medallion Class App. This Sportsbook can be used as soon as the boat hits international waters or is in a state with regulated sports betting.
Sports bettors can use their Medallion wristbands to wager on NBA games and other sports while on the cruise.
The sportsbook was added to the cruise ship in 2021 and the only restriction is betting on the Miami Heat. Princess Cruises is owned by the Carnival Cruise Line and the CEO of Carnival owns the Miami Heat as well.
This prevents any betting on the Heat from Oceans Sportsbook as that would be a conflict of interest for legal gambling.
The Sportsbook allows cruise ship members the ability to bet on live sports and place wagers on future games. They are able to keep up with all of the sports betting action from the mobile phone and can place bets through the Medallion Class app.
Other NBA Collaborations
Some NBA teams have joined forces with specific Sportsbooks in the past.
The Indiana Pacers only work with PointsBet and the Philadelphia 76’ers have an official sponsor with FOX Bet. Both of the sportsbooks are powered by Draft Kings.
